Ingredients
-
One shot / 25 ml (1fl oz) Espresso
-
25 ml (1fl oz) Grappa
Directions
An espresso corretto is a shot of espresso “corrected” with a shot of spirit or liquor, usually grappa, but sometimes sambuca, brandy, or cognac. The shot is usually added before serving, but you can also serve it on the side.
The traditional caffè corretto contains only a shot of espresso and grappa; that’s it. In case you’re unfamiliar with grappa, it is a brandy made from the solid grape leftovers from winemaking called pomace. Grappa is usually between 35 percent and 60 percent alcohol by volume, making it on par with the standard 40 percent alcohol like most vodka and whiskey.

Prepare Coffee1. Using the technique on, brew one shot/25ml (1fl oz) of espresso into your cup. 2. Pour 25ml (1fl oz) grappa, or any spirit of your choice, over the top of your espresso. 3. SERVE IT UP - Serve immediately. Once you’ve made a few caffè correttos, you can start to adjust the amount of grappa you use to see how the flavour changes. A systematic approach to changing the amount of grappa is to add or subtract 0.5 ounces at a time. |
