The Aeropress was invented in 2005 very similar with the French press. It is a more portable and both these brewing devices function in the same way and are even built on the same principles.

The Aeropress is a tube or cylinder, with a filter on the lower end. The coffee grounds are placed at the bottom, hot water is added and then the plunger is pushed to create pressure. As you press the plunger, coffee is filtered in the cup. Simple and efficient.

It’s perfect for making a double shot of espresso. For a single shot, just cut the amounts of water and coffee in half.

Steps

Heating up the water

Start by heating up 1 cup of water (8 oz or 234 ml) to 185°F - 205°F (85°C - 96°C) or boil a pot of water and let it sit for 30 seconds. You can experiment with water right temperatures.

Done

Grind your coffee

You need extremely fine grounds fresh coffee beans. The size of the grounds is the most important aspect of brewing espresso, regardless of the machine or device you’re using. If the grounds are too big, you won’t get an espresso, because the water will just flow freely through them.

Done

Put the grounds in the Aeropress

1. Put a filter in the AeroPress lower drain cap and rinse it with hot water. Sometimes, filters can leave an unpleasant taste of paper. Hot water will obliterate it.

2. Add 2 tablespoons (1 oz or 28.3 grams) of espresso ground coffee beans to the AeroPress. Shake the tube a little, so the grounds even out. Place a second paper filter on the lower end of the plunger. As you can see, the coffee will be stuck between two filters as you will press the piston. This is for them to stay on the bottom of the tube. This is the first pressing.

3. Put the drain cap on the AeroPress and place it directly onto your coffee mug or tumbler.

4
Done

Add hot water and Press the plunger

1. Measure out ½ cup (4 fl oz or 120 ml) of the heated water. Pour the water into the AeroPress and give it a quick stir.

2. Mix with a spoon and wait for 30 seconds after stirring,

3. Press down on the plunger slowly until you have pushed out all of the espresso.

4. Transfer your freshly brewed espresso to your favorite cup and add others ingredients as per your test (optional).

5. Enjoy Espresso !!!
